Staycation the New Travel Trend of 2022 and 2023

With COVID running rampant through 2020 and 2021 families were forced to cancel vacation plans and stay home. Most people would expect the vacation industry to rebound now that quarantine has ended, but this is not the case.

It's expected gas prices will rise in the summer due to increased travel, but when gas prices continue to break records and reach new all-time highs, it's no surprise that families are reconsidering their vacation plans.

Gas prices aren't the only thing preventing Americans from taking a vacation; interest rates are at 8.3 percent, stock prices are falling, and the possibility of a recession is growing by the day. Americans are looking for ways to reduce their spending.

Vacations are one of the first things most people think to cut back on when times become tough. However, this does not mean that vacations will become obsolete in the near future. Instead, Americans are starting to opt for more local vacations.

Rather than the typical family vacation to a tropical location, Disney Land, or another national landmark. People are starting to vacation closer to home, whether it's at a local campground, a cabin on the lake, or even a day trip to a nearby theme park.

Companies like Airbnb might also start to see some more traction as people look for more affordable accommodation. For now, it looks like staycations are here to stay, at least until we move past these uncertain economic times.
